Is this the right service for you?

Individual Tax covers personal returns — Form 1040 and the schedules that attach to it. If you own an S corporation or a partnership, that is a separate return and belongs under Business Tax. Many people need both, and that is fine; tell us and we will scope them together.

Employees

One or more W-2s, a standard deduction, maybe some interest or dividends. The most common return we prepare.

Self-employed and freelancers

Contract income, 1099-NEC work, or a sole proprietorship. Adds Schedule C for business income and expenses, and self-employment tax.

Rental property owners

One property or several. Adds Schedule E for rental income, expenses, and depreciation.

Investors

Stock, fund, or digital-asset activity. Adds Schedule D and Form 8949 for gains and losses, and the cost-basis work behind them.

Retirees

Pension, IRA or 401(k) withdrawals, Social Security, and annuity income — each taxed differently, and the interaction matters.

Not sure?

You do not need to know your form numbers. Describe your situation and we will identify what applies before any work begins.

What a return includes

Every return starts with the same core work. Additional schedules are added only where your situation calls for them, so you are not paying for forms you do not need.

In every individual return

Added when your situation needs it

Schedule C

Self-employment or sole-proprietor income and expenses, plus Schedule SE for self-employment tax.

Schedule E

Rental property income, expenses, and depreciation — priced per property.

Schedule D

Investment sales, capital gains and losses, and digital-asset transactions.

Schedule A

Itemized deductions, where itemizing beats the standard deduction.

Additional states

A state return for each state you need to file in, beyond the first.

Extensions, amended returns, and prior years

Extensions

An extension gives you more time to file, not more time to pay. If you expect to owe, the payment is still due on the original deadline. We will tell you what applies to your situation.

Amended returns

If something was missed or reported incorrectly on a return already filed, an amended return corrects it. Reviewed case by case, with a separate quote.

Prior-year returns

Years that were never filed. Handled case by case — send us the details and we will explain the options before committing you to anything.

IRS or state notices

If you have received a letter, do not ignore the response date. We review notices case by case and will tell you honestly whether we are the right people to help.

Extensions, amended returns, prior-year filings, and notice responses are not part of a standard return. Each is scoped and quoted separately.

What to have ready

You do not need any of this to get an estimate — only to complete the return. Gathering it early makes everything faster.

How it works

  1. Tell us about your situation. A short description of your income, your state, and anything unusual. No sensitive documents at this stage.
  2. We identify what your return needs. Which forms and schedules apply, and what we will need from you.
  3. You get a scope and an estimate. Before any work starts, so there are no surprises later.
  4. You share your documents securely. Once you decide to go ahead, through a secure channel rather than email.
  5. We prepare and review. Your return is prepared, then goes through a review step before filing.
  6. You approve, then we file. Nothing is submitted until you have seen the return and authorised it.
IND-C-006

How pricing works

A low base price for the return itself, plus additions for the specific forms, states, and complexity your situation involves. You pay for what your return actually needs.

We give you an estimate after a short review of your situation, and confirm the figure before starting. Published prices are starting points, not final fees — a return with unexpected complexity will be re-quoted and agreed with you, never billed as a surprise.

Specific fee amounts are not published on this page yet. Ask for an estimate and you will get a figure for your actual situation.

Where we file

We currently prepare individual returns for residents of, and filers in, these states. If you moved during the year or earn income in more than one state, say so — multi-state returns are common and we will scope them properly.

Washington, Texas, and Florida have no personal state income tax, so a return there is usually federal only. California, New York, and Illinois each require a state return alongside your federal one.

Not on the list? Send your details anyway. We will tell you honestly whether we can help now, or point you elsewhere.

Common questions

I don't know which forms I need. Is that a problem?

No — that is the normal starting point. Describe your income and your situation in plain words, and we identify the forms. You are never expected to know form numbers.

What does it cost?

A base price for the return, plus additions for extra schedules, extra states, and complexity. You get an estimate after a short review, and we confirm it before starting work.

How do I send my documents?

Not through this website and not by ordinary email. Once you start, you will get a secure route for anything sensitive. Secure upload is launching soon.

I have income in two states. Can you handle that?

Yes, where both states are ones we serve. Multi-state situations are scoped individually because the rules for allocating income between states vary.

I haven't filed for a couple of years.

Tell us. Unfiled years are handled case by case, and there is no judgement in it — the sooner it is looked at, the more options usually remain.

Will someone check my return before it is filed?

Yes. Every return goes through a review step before filing, and nothing is submitted until you have seen it and authorised it.

Can you guarantee a refund, or a specific outcome?

No, and be cautious of anyone who does. Your outcome depends on your circumstances and on the tax authorities. What we can do is prepare your return accurately and explain what drives the result.
